So You Think You Can Dance Canada 2 – Episode 14 – Top 12 Perform

Welcome back, SYTYCD Canada fans!  Next week, it’s Top 10, baby!  Until then, it’s Top 12, baby!  (You can thank me later for the math lesson.)  Week 5.  This season has flown by!

Joining our panel of judges, Jean-Marc Genereux and Tre Armstrong, we have everyone’s favourite contemporary choreographer, Mia Michaels!  Also at the table is Rex Harrington, the artist-in-residence at the National Ballet of Canada!  Rex has been on the show before, and he knows how to dole out the advice.

So enough typing!  Let’s get on with the show and bring out our Top 12 dancers!

Leah Miller?  This is where you jump in, babe.

The judges are still in control as to who gets the axe, but this is their final week!  Starting next week, the male and female dancers least voted on by Canadians takes a CN box car home!  So everybody better bring their game tonight!  First up, Tara-Jean and Everett do a Sean Cheesman theatre piece:

A GREAT number!  Remember this one when we see some tap FOLLOW in SYTYCD US!  You saw tap here first!  Well done, people!

Couple #2 happens to be Melanie and Cody.  Melissa Williams put the jazz piece together for them:

Didn’t care much for the piece (very dark, and I mean in a lighting way), but I felt Melanie rawked!  Cody?  Not so much.

My sweetie-who-doesn’t-know-I-exist, Corynne, and Austin take on a steamy salsa by Tony Meredith and Melanie LaPatin:

(Wow.  Talk about virtually having your head stuck up someone’s a…. you know where I was going with this one!)

My boys love that song from Pitbull!  I don’t think I exactly loved that performance though…looked like a hot mess on the dance floor.  We will soon see what Canada thought..but VOTE FOR CORYNNE ANYWAY!!!!

Judge Luther Brown didn’t have the week off…he was teaching a hip-hop routine to our next couple, Kim and Emanuel:

Kim definitely out-performed Emanuel.  It was a so-so number made better by Kim!

The dancers at the beginning of each clip talk about what they’re gonna miss about their dance partners, which is something I neglected to mention that is a part of being in the Top 10:  different partners each week!  Some shaking-up is definitely something to look forward to!

Blake McGrath choreographed the next number, having his ‘contemporary’ way with dancers Jayme Rae and Daniel:

This was good, not great, but good.  Once again, we have the girl outshining the guy.  Jayme Rae made the piece worth sticking with.  Daniel, not so much.

The final couple of the night, foul-mouthed Amy and “no-hidea” Vincent work with Tony and Melanie on a jive number:

Good routine!  Solid ending to the show!

Luther Brown is heading up the group number in the next episode, where one girl and one guy leave the show!  Who’s gonna go?  And who is part of the SYTYCD Canada 2009 Top 10?
