Canadian Weekly TV Ratings

Canadian TV Ratings and Recaps – November 16-22/15

It may be December on the calendar but it’s still mid-November as far as Numeris is concerned!  Yes, Numeris, that monolithic information-collecting megacorp that….actually, I have no idea what Numeris is.  They do provide TV ratings to those that care.  And I care.  And you must too, because you’re here!  So let’s have a look at the Canadian TV ratings – and recaps – for the week of November 16-22/15.  Numeris called it “Week 12”.  Faceless multi-conglomerate…maybe.  For the Top 30 on English TV, click here, while you can find the Top 30 on French TV by clicking here!

#1 – “The Big Bang Theory” Season 9 – Episode #9 (“The Platonic Permutation”) – CTV/CBS – Thursday 8:00 pm to 8:31 pm – 4.041 million viewers

115,000 viewers got back on the “Big Bang” bandwagon compared to last week, and put the show back over 4 million viewers.

In the U.S., “TBBT” was third overall and fourth in the 18-49 demo.

#2 – “NCIS” Season 13 – Episode #9 (“Day in Court”) – Global/CBS – Tuesday 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm – 2.624 million viewers

The gain from last week is slight – only 28,000 more viewers – but “NCIS” holds on to another second-place rating.

In the U.S., “NCIS” was second overall, behind only “Sunday Night Football”, and in the 18-49 demo it tied for 14th with the premier of “Chicago Med” and a new episode of “The Goldbergs”.

#3 – “NCIS: New Orleans” Season 2 – Episode #9 (“Darkest Hour”) – Global/CBS – Tuesday 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm – 2.295 million viewers

Shalita Grant as Sonja Percy and Lucas Black as Christopher LaSalle

Global locks up the 8-to-10 pm period with their one-two “NCIS” punch once again.  Down 37,000 viewers from last week, but enough to keep the spinoff in third for the week.

In the U.S., “NCIS:NO” was fourth overall, and tied for 25th with “Scorpion”, “Mom”, “Shark Tank”, “2 Broke Girls”, and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”.

#4 – “American Music Awards” – CTV/ABC – Sunday 8:00 pm to 11:10 pm – 2.171 million viewers

“One Direction” won for Artist of the Year and Favorite Duo or Group – Pop Rock in this year’s “AMA’s”.  Sam Hunt was awarded New Artist of the Year, and Taylor Swift won her obligatory Song of the Year award for “Blank Space”, and Album of the Year award for “1989”.  Favourite Pop/Rock Artists were Ed Sheeran and Ariana Grande.

#5 – “Criminal Minds” Season 11 – Episode #8 (“Awake”) – CTV/CBS – Wednesday 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm – 2.168 million viewers

A show with a stable audience if there ever was one, with four thousand viewers adding on to last week’s numbers to keep this show at #5 (and pushing “Survivor” down to #6).  Did you know a spinoff of this show is coming?  “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders”.  Copy what works, I guess…

In the U.S., “CM” came in 22nd overall, and did not make it on the 18-49 demo chart.

Here’s the Top 5 in the States, using the “Overall” numbers and including the cable figures:

  1. Sunday Night Football – NBC – 18,007,000 viewers
  2. NCIS – CBS – 16,587,000 viewers
  3. The Big Bang Theory – 15,194,000 viewers
  4. The Walking Dead – AMC – 13,224,000 viewers
  5. NCIS: New Orleans – CBS – 13,008,000 viewers

I’m off to watch the first half of the “Flash/Arrow” crossover!  Let me know what you thought of this post and be sure to be back next Tuesday evening for lucky Week 13…otherwise known as “Canadian TV Ratings – and Recaps – for November 23-29/15”!
