Canadian TV Ratings and Recaps – November 23-29/15

Lucky Week 13 in the Numeris Canadian TV Ratings bible covers November 23 to 29/15.  So if I had to do a blog about what the top shows were that week, this would be that blog!  Whaaaaaaaa?  DeanBlog Inception!  Click here to see the National Top 30, or click over here to see the Quebec Top 30!

#1 – CFL Grey Cup  – TSN – Sunday 6:40 pm to 9:44 pm – 4.065 million viewers

The Edmonton Eskimos defeated the Ottawa Redblacks 26-20 in the 103rd Grey Cup.  For those of you unfamiliar with anything I just said, this was the final playoff game in the Canadian Football League, a game akin to, say, the Super Bowl, but with less downs and much more cold.  So cold in Winnipeg (the host city this year) the pigskin wanted to be on the grill rather than in the field.  That was weak, I know.  I acknowledge my shortcomings when they’re so glaringly obvious.

#2 – “NCIS” Season 13 – Episode #10 (“Blood Brothers”) – Global/CBS – Tuesday 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm – 2.832 million viewers

This ratings week has the American Thanksgiving to contend with, and people gave thanks for there not being a new “Big Bang Theory” episode on to interrupt their turkey dinners or their football.  (NFL, not the CFL Grey Cup.) “NCIS” became the highest-rated scripted show in Canada, adding 208,000 viewers from last week.

In the U.S., “NCIS” was third overall behind the “NFL Thursday Special” and “Sunday Night Football”, both on NBC.  In the 18-49 demo, “NCIS” was tied for 10th with “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving”.

#3 – CFL Grey Cup Countdown  – TSN – Sunday 6:00 pm to 6:40 pm – 2.482 million viewers

I’m not sure what they aired over 40 minutes, as I was tied up indexing my Funko Pop!s collection, but whatever it was, I’m sure it was cold.  They were in Winnipeg, man.  Outside.  Brrrrrrrr.

#3 – “NCIS: New Orleans” Season 2 – Episode #10 (“Billy and the Kid”) – Global/CBS – Tuesday 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm – 2.438 million viewers

Scott Bakula as Dwayne Pride, Lucas Black as Christopher LaSalle, Zoe McLellan as Meredith Brody, and Shalita Grant as Sonja Percy

“NCIS: New Orleans” scores again, falling a spot to #4 this week, but gaining 143,000 viewers in the process.  The “NCIS” brand is what Canadians turn to when they don’t want to watch huge men huddling and going after a 2-point convert.

In the U.S., “NCIS: NO” was tenth overall, and tied for 22nd with “2 Broke Girls” in the 18-49 demo.

#5 – “Survivor: Cambodia” Season 31 – Episodes #10 (“Like Selling Your Soul to the Devil”) and #11 (“My Wheels are Spinning) – Global/CBS – Wednesday 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm – 2.150 million viewers

I’ve always enjoyed “Survivor”…haven’t missed one episode.  EVER.  No mean feat considering my twin boys were born during that very first season!  So I enjoyed this double-episode twice as much!  (See what I did there?)  Ciera fell victim to the elimination during the first hour, and Fishback finally was put out of our collective misery and voted out during Hour #2.  Eight are left!

Here’s the Top 5 in the States, using the “Overall” numbers and including the cable figures:

  1. NFL Thursday Special – NBC – 27,751,000 viewers
  2. Sunday Night Football – NBC – 25,188,000 viewers
  3. NCIS – CBS – 16,193,000 viewers
  4. 60 Minutes – CBS – 14,332,000 viewers
  5. Monday Night Football – ESPN – 14,256,000 viewers
